Chariots of Hope continues to build on its first year successes. Our network of nursing homes, church organizations and civic groups were joined by many individual contributors increasing the total number of wheelchairs collected to 443 a 295% increase over last year. 1000 Wheels Day held on May 5th, 2000 at the Connecticut State Police Barracks throughout the state saw donations of 111 wheelchairs for the day. This event is enabling Chariots of Hope to gain exposure through the substantial support of Connecticut news media.

Distribution of wheelchairs continues to be a major challenge and expense. Still Chariots has now shipped wheelchairs to needy individuals in Anquilla, Bolivia, Ghana, Peru, Tanzania and South Africa.

We continue to develop our contacts to additional distribution channels in third world countries. Locally, individuals in 19 Connecticut towns as well as in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania are using wheelchairs provided by Chariots.

www.chariotsofhope.org our web site has developed into an important means of communication as several thousand “hits” per month are recorded. People in need of wheelchairs can make application through the web site, saving time for everyone involved. Enabling users faster access to the mobility and freedom our wheelchairs provide.
